Dear Eze,

I live in a small mountain village that doesn’t get a lot of passerby. We’re on the wrong side of Pelin river, and most travelers don’t bother to cross when Mittflare is another half day journey up the road. We’re not a wealthy village, but we do alright. Most of us trade with the nomadic caravans that pass through, and we even travel to Mittflare ourselves for the weekly market, but we’re always on the lookout for new business opportunities.

Fortuitously, we have seen a recent increase in strangers visiting our village. Not a flock or anything, but enough that several of us craftsman have received visits and are wondering if these folks are worth folding into our usual business projections. Granted none of them have bought anything much beyond food and a large order of enchanted dowsing rods that are designed to help track down lost friends and family members, but we’re optimistic we can expand on this.

My question is: what is the best way to make our goods and services look attractive to the servants of wizards? We’re not so worried about the wizards themselves- I don’t think they’d bother to travel to us when Mittflare has far nicer accommodation, but maybe that would be a good opportunity as well, if our visitors are shopping for them? We don’t see a lot of wizards out here, but we’re adaptable.

Any advice?

Dear Mountain Marketing,

I can’t say I know what the lackey’s of wizards might be looking for- or interested in, as the case may be. Best I can tell you is the tried and true advice I give most people looking to connect with someone: Ask and provide.

Maybe you and a few of your colleagues could inquire what these particular wizards are looking for and go from there. Information is king, and the more you know the more you can do.

That being said, wizards are historically difficult to work with and oftentimes dangerous. Who knows what these particular wizards are after, or if their intentions are well-meaning. The more you learn, the more of an informed decision you can make about trading with them.

On that note, I’d be fascinated to know more about this situation, and so, I’m sure, would many of our readers! If you’d care to update us on the peculiar missions of wizards and co., please write in to the office c/o the Dear Eze team.

Best of luck!

Eze C
